The current balance is $5,057.68. From January 1, 2010 through September 23, 2010, expenses have totaled $2,206.00. This does not include the $100.00 yearly membership fee for the Quiet Lakes Association to join Walleyes for Northwest Wisconsin and additional buoy work. The picnic in August 2010: revenues were $1,027.00 and expenses were $595.00.

Gayle will send out a reminder to members who have not paid their dues. Two new members have joined and they are: John and Jodi Sowa and Mike and Shari Johnson. Gayle is working on new member packets.
Environment (Koshak/Clevenger): Larry Koshak had to resign from his position. Bob Dale appointed Rex Clevenger to the Environmental position and he was seated and welcomed as a new board member. Bob Dale thanked Larry for his work with the Association especially concerning Invasive Species monitoring. Volunteers are now monitoring the lakes for Invasive Species. There was a suspicion of Eurasian Milfoil in Lost Land Lake. Kristi Maki, Sawyer County Invasive Specialist, came out and reported that it is not Eurasian Milfoil. Monitoring of the boat landings for Invasive Species needs to be done. Bob Dale reported that there is a state grant program available that will match funds from the Association for payment for boat landing monitoring and that there is also payment “in-kind” for invasive species monitoring done by volunteers. The Association will pursue this in 2011.
Properties/Fisheries (Gouze): John reported that he will order 4 “ice bar” buoys and the buoys that are now in place will be removed the first weekend in October. John will contact the WDNR for the results of the fish survey that was done in September. John reported that he will look into finding a way to fund walleye stocking. It will be a designated as a separate fund and voluntary. If you have any concerns regarding the large-mouth bass situation in Teal Lake, Bob Dale suggested contacting Brian Hucker, Chairman for The Town of Spider Lake. The small grills that were placed on the islands this spring are gone.
Social (Hanson): John thanked everyone who helped with the picnic. The success of the picnic is due all to the volunteers. Following is a list of the meetings for 2011. The 2011 meetings will all be on a Saturday except for the picnic which is on a Sunday. Lost Land was on a “loon census” this summer and Gayle will report on the results of the census at the spring meeting. The WDNR did not take any Osprey chicks this year and the nest on Lynch creek fell off. The Osprey nest on the throughfare was successful with two chicks.
A dead eagle was found at the bottom of the nest on McNott Island but the nest near Ghost Lake raised two adolescent eagles and the nest on Lost Land raised two adolescent eagles.
Old Business: Bob Dale reported that The Town of Spider Lake is enforcing the speed limit; not the Quiet Lakes Association. The Recreational Officer has been out at least twice and has issued a few warnings. One citation for “No Wake” violation has been issued. If you have any questions, contact Brian Hucker, Chairman of The Town of Spider Lake or Pat Retzlaff, Recreational Officer for Sawyer County.
